I was allowed sugar free Jello. As long as you don't put anything else in it, no fruit. Otherwise, I had a crapload of Water w/Crystal Light. But, I only had that for 1 wk before I could move onto whole liquids. Those weeks sucked, sorry to say. Never thought the idea of pureed foods would make my mouth water, but I had 2 wks of looking forward to it. That first meal of pureed chicken and fat free refried Beans was almost gourmet.

Good luck with it. It seems like forever when you are going through it. Afterwards, you realize it was only a moment in time and completely worth it.

I am 3 days post op and my book says that I can have sugar free jello, crystal light, chicken or beef broth, and sugar free popsicles for the first 4 days. Just rotate those around and it isn't so bad!

My Dr gave me a book and it lists all the drinks mentioned above- but it has a lot more- These are for right after the surgery...

Hot Cocoa Mix-no sugar added (prepare with milk)

Carnation Instant Breakfast-no added sugar variety

Juices-100%, including vegetable or citrus

Milk-skim up to 2%

Protein powders with 2 grams or less of ADDED sugar(check first 6 ingredients)

Decaffinated coffee or Tea

Kool Aid-sugar free

Fudgesicle-No added Sugar

Some it it sounds pretty good to me... I can't wait to start eating this stuff.. my surgery is February 5th!! Let's see if it all still sounds good on Feb 25th (when I can move to Gerber Baby Food!!!);)
