Its been since 2016 when I got my lapband. It has caused me nothing but issues. The place I received it stopped excepting my insurance 1st and expected cash for adjustments than they closed down and wasn't able to get adjustments anymore. And I gained so much weight afterwards and it has since cause massive issues for my health and body. It was the worst mistake I have ever made getting. I should have gotten the gastric bypass .

I’m sorry you went through that. I had a Lap-Band in 2003 and also ended up with major complications. I had a gastric bypass in 2018, then even had to have that reversed after a blockage. You’re not alone in feeling like the band was a mistake; a lot of us have had challenging experiences with it. I too had severe now disability from lap band surgery 2010. The day of the surgery I went home and unable to swallow and went back to the emergency room where my doctor was now on vacation and had to wait 3 days for him to return. Meanwhile, I sustained aspiration pneumonia and it was in ICU and then had the lap band replaced and then 6 months later it slipped again. But I was not going to go back to the surgeon due to my lengthy hospitalization and left it there for 5 years. I then saw another GI doctor with severe abdominal pain and was told I had barette esophagus and hiatal hernia And had to see a specialized GI surgeon to have the lap band removed because it was embedded in my stomach. It was a 7-hour procedure and they did a Nissan fundliplication, Fix the hiatal hernia and remove the lap band carefully. The surgeon stated I had so much scar tissue that I can never have abdominal surgery again that they would have to go through my chest and I was 40 years old. After that procedure I ended up having jackhammer esophagus And a stomach that does not work. I either have delayed emptying and become nauseous or rapid emptying or dumping syndrome with severe diarrhea. I never know which way it's going to go. It's been 10 years now and I have the Nissan unwinding and causing severe bloating and nausea and pain and not able to fix unless they go through my chest so I deal with it until I can no longer handle the pain. With the new GLP injections I would definitely recommend that over any type of abdominal surgery!
