Caffeine/ coffee

Does anyone know when we are allowed to drink coffee? I had gastric bypass and it’s over 30days since surgery.

Surgeons tend to vary drastically about this. Some people are offered coffee for breakfast in the hospital and others aren’t allowed any until months out. Best to check with your team on this one.

I just added caffiene-3 weeks out from surgery. I mixed black iced coffee with a 1/2 of a vanilla Premier Protein shake and it was delicious. Felt like an iced latte.

As mentioned above, surgeons do not have a consensus on this matter, and it is still best to follow your doctor's recommendations. I plan to drink coffee when restrictions are lifted. I think that I will not drink strong, and I will dilute it with something, dietary cream or water. But maybe I won't want it at all

Even the lack of consistency among the hospital that ran the bariatric program I was in was hysterical. We were told no coffee for 6 months (not even decaf), yet on my 2nd day there was a cup of coffee on my tray.

We were told the entire time decaf was fine at 3 months and as long as we're not having any digestive issues, caffeinated at 6 months and beyond is ok.
