Shopping???

Another thread made me think of this.. Out of curiosity, the people that hate shopping, is it because of the weight?? I know when I was fat I hated to shop.. I hated to see myself in those horrible mirrors and just hated the whole experience. Now that I am thinner and I look great (just kidding) I love to shop for clothes.. Love to try them on.. Or I should say I always have to try them on. Size doesn't mean anything these days, they all vary so much. Sometimes I wear a 6, sometimes and 8. Well, I was just wondering.

ummmm..i hate spending money that i know is ridiculously jacked up. but...i still enjoy it sometimes.

i hate CLOTHES shopping because of my weight..period. when you are 5'2" and 225, with an hourglass shape, there aren't a lot of clothes out there for you. and petite's are even too long for someone with a 26 1/2 inseam..and they don't make well fitting petite fat clothes..that i have found...i have to roll up sleeves on my shirts..haha..i'll be glad when i'm a true "petite"

I am 5'1" and started at 230....I feel your pain! Just to let you know, I just bought a jacket/blazer type at Kohls....size petite large!!! No X insight. You will be there before you know it.....shopping will be fun again, I promise!

I found some pants on sale at Macy's late summer and they fit my hourglass figure perfectly.I know I'm crazy,but I bought a few size L clothing that only cost about $6.00 /$8.00 each and have them in my closet waiting. I only buy off season clothing and keep it for the next season. The only size I'm not sure I'll be wearing is the size for next winter. But if I have size large sweaters and I'm between sizes, it doesn't matter,sweaters can be a little big. right?

Man, I have to go to a swimming party with my 5 year old today oops! I just got a phone call it was cancelled due to bad weather. I have one more week to lose weight! It's embarrassing ,because everybody will be looking at each other bodies.

i'm lucky to have the hourglass shape, and i love being short, but i can't wait to be truly petite. all the women in my family are tiny (none of the men are heavy either...except my dad..we are the only ones). anyways, my mom is 4'10" and most of her life she weighed 85 lbs (she is a nice healthy 120 now, and she thinks she's fat :faint:..haha..she still wears a size 5...but i do joke with her that she just might be considered obese now.. (haha..she has bad health problems and really doesn't need any extra weight, but her new med's caused a quick weight gain..she always sayed things to me out of concern..so now i'm returning the favor..although she is almost 50 and i would rather her be an older woman with some meat on her bones...).

anyways..back to the subject, i have a cousin who is the same as my mom 4'10" wears a size 0, a sister who has had 4 kids and is 5'0" and half my size...lol. only one girl in the whole family who is taller than me.....

so, i'll be glad when we can go to christmas gatherings, etc., and i won't feel like the giant (hhahaha...it's hard to believe i'm the giant at 5'2").

They say that the right clohes will flatter any body size, but I say bull ponkies. At nearly 400lbs, nothing looks great on you unless the lights are turned off and someone poked out your eyes.

LMAO! i can relate. it is just a scary thing being that large ...

i avoided all shops until i weighed about 350, mostly because even the Avenue size 30/32 didnt fit and the thought of being 'defeated' by even the largest size they carried was just devastating.

now, i love to shop (just ask DH ). i am in 14/16 or 18/20 tops and 20/22 bottoms (i really wish they made that size instead of 18/20 or 22/24). i went from not being able to wear Avenue clothes due to them being too small to not being able to wear them due to them being too large.

now all i need is to take that "W" away from the size. i dont even know where to start at a 'normal' clothing store.

I so love shopping now!!! I started as a tight 18. I didn't like to buy anything because I always hated how it looks on me. All the cute stuff doesn't come in our size

Anyway, I went shopping this past weekend and tried on all 14's and some 12's. The 14's were perfect, but bought a couple of 12's to wear with the Spanx :eek:

And .... bonus!!! I can wear heels again!! OMG!!! I bought some fabulous knee high Vera Wang boots from Kohl's!! Lord, I think they had a 5" heel. That's a little high for me so I was still in pain by the end of my company's Christmas party - but they looked good Even the drunk by the valet told me so
