bad incisions site

I had my surgery OCt. 18. No complications or problems so far with the band, however, 2 of my incision sites will not heal and are wide open and deep. Luckily I work in the hospital so a PA has been looking in on me and checking my incision weekly for infection and the wound clinic has been keeping them clean and covering them. But its been six wees and they are still not healed and now I am having severe pain. ANyone else had this happen? Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with my port site, it wouldnt close and my job only made it worse. A month after my banding I went to the ER ( I work in the medical field and it was the only way to get co workers to hush up...lol) and the doc their restitched the incision site for me. He did consult a few surgeons to see if it was ok to do so far post op, but they gave him the go ahead. A week of sticthes and it healed fine, a bigger scar then I should have had, but I was more concerned about it not healing at all and infection.

He said that the steri strips they use are horrible as the stomach skin is tougher then most, and the strips just dont do the trick and they should just stick with sutures. See if they will stitch it for you, again the scarring may be worse but better than an infection.

My area was open over an inch wide andabout 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch deep, if that helps, again though ask.. it cant hurt
