USA Today Article relived.. for those researching...

Dr. Ponce of Georgia. This article was done quite awhile back. David is a member of Smartbandsters Yahoo Group and has done very well with his band. He also works for USA Today. It's got some good answers in it.

Leatha this was great encouragment for me. Reading this mans story shows the band is a great success along with alot of hard work from ourselves. I hope to get my band soon and I think when I do seeing success stories like this will help me be ever so grateful that I have a band on myside. THANKS!!!

Every Dr. has their own post op diet they want you to follow. One thing I was told by Dr. Ortiz is that when Inamed came out with the band they had no post op diet so every Dr. and his nurtitionalist made up their own. My Dr. has a longer post op liquid phase then most. 2 weeks clear liquids, 1 week full liquids at week 4 was mushy food for 2 weeks then solids at week 6.

Not many here have I heard of them having 3 weeks of liquids.

He also may have had a pre op diet to follow, more so in men who have a higher BMI and have more fat around their livers some Dr's require liquids pre band to shrink the size of the liver, it is easier to place the band that way.

thanks leatha, lots of great things for hubby to read, or make that DH, as I read here! Great article! I like how HE is in charge of making the most of the band. It's not a cure, but a tool that makes your efforts work for you. Good read!
