I was just wondering a few things about the process with Blue Cross Blue Shield federal. I have almost checked all the boxes and completed everything on my list, and I plan on submitting the paperwork to the insurance on the 25th of this month. I guess my question is 2 fold:

1. How long does it take for them.to approve the surgery? (Assuming that I am approved of course).

2. How soon after approval can we have surgery?

I am at a bit of a time crunch because I am a teacher and I go back to work on July 30th and would like to have at least 4 or 5 days of recovery before I start that week. The 1st week usually consists of meetings and setting up the classroom, and it's just the teachers before the kids return. I am getting my classroom set up now so that the physical labor when I return is minimal or non existent. Any suggestions? Is that even feasible to assume that I will have surgery within a month of submitting the paperwork?

I have BCBS federal and the doctors office did all my paperwork. I was approved in 3 days and had to do supervised diet for 3 months prior to my surgery but after I was approved I had my surgery less than a week after the insurance was notified and I was back to work 4 days after surgery and I work as a law enforcement officer

No.. they only did my 3 month start weight and I met the qualifications due to my BMI and high blood pressure so I was automatically approved.

Hi there, was wondering if you heard back from BCBS Fed? I have them also, mine was submitted for approval on 6/19 and I was required to show 2 years of weight history. Were you required to do that as well?

Yes. I was requirees to to that. My PCP just added that info to my letter of medical necessity. We haven't submitted yet though.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
