Gas Pains

I know everyone is different and not everyone will have the same experiences...but can anyone tell me roughly when the pain will stop completely?the incision on my right side hurts so bad like idk if it's like associated with gas or what but I've been sipping my water and walking throughout the day it doesn't seem to be helping I spoke with my Dr who said the pain I'm experiencing is normal just want to know if there is anything else I can do or try because other than that 1 thing I feel fine...plz help any advice is appreciated
