Has anyone had a similar situation. I have to travel a long distance from home to have the surgery. A friend will be taking me to the hospital and picking me up, will stay with them for a day or two then have a short hour long flight to my mother's. Until I am able to come home. Does that seem reasonable that I can fly short distance without too much trouble? Do I have to be able to go back and see the surgeon after surgery. Or just my regular family doctor

Every program is different and this is something you should talk to your doctor about. The program I used, did not want you further away than a 4 hour drive for the first 3 months and I did have to go see my surgeon a couple of weeks after surgery. After that it was a nurse practitioner that I saw at 3, 6 and 12 months.
