question about gagging....

Hi all, I am getting banded tomorrow (yay!), and a question occurred to me this morning as I was brushing my teeth. I have a very sensitve gag reflex, I gag anytime I brush my teeth, and at various other times as well. Will gagging mess the band up, cause it to slip, etc? I was just curious if I would need to be more careful with stuff like that (brushing, etc.) Thanks all and see you when I'm officially a bandster too!!! :clap2:

I've heard - but I would check with your surgeon, that it is several violent vomiting episodes that causes slipping.

Ask your doc tomorrow and good luck - I was banded on Monday and apart from some severe gas and a bit of soreness its been fine.

Hi Jenne! Good luck and I'll be thinking of you! I'm like you - I gag when I brush my teeth. I just plan to be more careful in the future, but like foxy said, it's the voilent retching that causes the problems. By the way when they put the tube down my throat in surgery - and took it out - I wasn't "there for it" at all. I was deeply in "la la land".
