New here

Hi. I've finally logged on here after reading comments for weeks. What a wonderful support group here! I've enjoyed the tips, feelings, struggles, and triumphs etc. Finally created my own account today as I received THE call to schedule sleeve surgery just awhile ago. Needless to say I'm 'mildly nervous and excited'. Surgery is June 6th! Oh my. Starting pre op diet Sunday and would love to get some of your suggestions for 'tasty' protein drinks/bars. So looking forward to making new friends here and if you have any helpful hints to share as I begin this life changing journey I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thank you for all those wonderful suggestions. The koolaid and jello open up a whole new avenue of flavors! Maybe all the protein drinks ahead of me won't b too bad.

Congratulations! My favorite protein shake is Premier Protein (chocolate) and Quest Protein Bars.

Welcome aboard!! Most will steer you away from 'bars' as they tend to be high in carbs. My surgeon would only let me choose between Unjury and Isopure. Both of their chocolate flavors were decent. Premier Protein's caramel flavor is pretty epic, but it also has more calories and carbs per ounce than Unjury or Isopure. Best of luck on your journey!!

Thank you for some protein drink/bar guidance. Guess my head is spinning since I faxed last of required paperwork yest morning and got the call this morning to schedule surgery (June 6). Thought it would take more than 24 hrs and now seems as tho there is SO much to get done...just over 2 wks. Not looking forward to pre op diet so I may be asking for some help/encouragement from you 'pros' who have gotten thru it.

I am super picky and I love trutein for protein shakes. You can only get it online via netrition. My favorite is lemon meringue pie, among others. My plan for the pre op diet is to order samples from every flavor so I don't get bored.

Oh thank u for the info. Nice to know there r different flavors out there...I know that I'll get tired of chocolate in short time.

Welcome and good luck, go to GNC if you can, they usually have samples of a few products. Plus you can get great clearance deals and a $5 coupon for signing up for there free reward program. Protein tastes will change after surgery so dont buy too many you may end up hating them. I have like 5-6 big containers i dont like that im struggling to use

I bought vanilla and unflavored protein powder as well as liquid protein shots I can add to sugar free koolaid or jello. I use the unflavored in my decaf coffee or in broth or low fat cream soups strained. The vanilla I use sugar free water flavoring drops or cocoa powder or peanut butter powder to flavor it. I never get bored.
