Do GERD / IBS cause surgery complications?

I have GERD and IBS and will have to go to Mexico for the surgery so I am concerned about complications. Did any of you have similar circumstances before surgery and if so, how did it go? Anything unusual after surgery? Thx Much!

I am pre--band. My doctor (Borao) has told me that they do not complicate the operation and my GERD & IBS (among other things) should greatly improve after surgery.

Thank you, Beth. Are you scared? When are you having the surgery?
