The Band and Lupus

I found out I had Lupus about 6 months ago. Thier may have been some symptoms of it before the band but I didnt really pay too much attention. After I found out I looked it up on the internet and found out that in some cases having the band put in can actually cause Lupus for some people and they have to have it taken out. I have not spoke with my band doc about this yet because I dont want to hear we have to remove it. Besides the fact that I am quite sure I was having symtoms years before the band therefor I dont think the band caused it. But I cant be sure because of the timing of my DX. I try not to think about it too much but then again what if the band gave me this horrible illiness. Anyway just wanted to write some thoughts down.

I, too, know a lady who has lupus and she has the band as well. She got it after she had been diagnosed with lupus, which she has had for many years, to help her lose weight. She started out at 400 lbs.+ and now weighs 250. She's had the band for about a year and a half and feels better than she has since before she found out she had lupus.

Hope this helps and good luck!

I have had Lupus for many years and because I have Lupus the doctor felt it would be good for me to have lap band surgery. I really don't think Lupus has anything to do with the lap band. I will have surgery in 10 more days
