Motivation

I do great with staying on track with eating - I find it difficult to stay motivated in the exercising department - that's where I need advice - how do others keep themselves moving, interested, and ready to go. The only thing holding things back from getting a surgical date is my iron levels need to get up by 5 more points but I am finding it difficult to get myself motivated to go for that walk daily so advice on what keeps others going and moving would be so appreciated

It is important to walk for around 30 minutes each day (or equivalent) prior to surgery. It speeds up the recovery process and also reduces the pain levels from surgery.

During the 6 months prior to surgery, I walked every day. Immediately after my RNY gastric bypass surgery 3 years ago I walked every 2 hours round the clock while I was in the hospital. I refused all pain medicine after I left the delivery room. I didn't really need any. I had very little pain.

I go to Zumba classes when they are running in our small town the are on summer hiatus unfortunately - I am looking to join more classes this fall they will be having drums alive classes - I am on iron tablets 3 times a day to get my levels up where they need to be for surgery - they are at 45 and need to be at 50 for surgery

I have several people who hold me accountable to my routine. For instance, I pack my gym bag and change clothes before I leave work. It puts me in the mindset to go but also, I HAVE to go the gym because if I walk into my house dressed for the gym before 6:30, Mr. SuperSparkly knows I didn't exercise and teases me mercilessly. :P

Or I make an appt. with a trainer or schedule to meet a friend. Knowing other people are waiting for me gets me in gear on the days I'm feeling too tired.

Oh, and I have some really cute pink shorts I only wear at the gym. Cuz they're fun. And I like pink. :D
