Just Signed Up For San Antonio Marathon

Well this former couch potato is going to attempt the San Antonio marathon on November 11th - I just registered this morning!

I have been running for the past 10 weeks or so, and am gradually increasing my distance. When I started I couldn't run for more than a minute without stopping - I ran 10 miles this morning with no stops!

I run in a 5k race every 2 weeks, and I have registered for a couple of 10ks, a half-marathon, and a 25k between now and race day. I am far from fast, but boy, am I enjoying it!

With this exercise, I am losing about 3/4 pounds per day and my intake is about 800 calories - mostly Protein.

If I can do it - anyone can do it!

Congratulations!

I'm running the NYC marathon on November 4th and am about half way through the training schedule (15 miles is my longest run to date -- my 1/2 marathon is in 2 weeks). Be prepared -- when you up the miles, the calories necessarily come up with it, or you can't get through the runs. I need to eat about 1500 the day before a long run or else I just don't feel good. It's all worth it though!

Keep us posted on your training. As you probably know, 2 1/2 months isn't a long time to train (my schedule was 5 months, assuming you could already run 3 consistent miles), but I'm sure you'll make it!

I am running the disney 1/2 marathon in January. My longest run to date is 12.67 km, but I have almost 4 months and have been building slowly.

Good luck and train well.. remember the courage to start is what it is all about!!
