Waiting for 1st fill; eating more

Recommended Posts

I've been so good. My meal sizes have been toddler portions; and always Protein first then veggie or fruit. These past couple days though I find myself testing the band. Eating more each time. My first fill is next Friday. From my reading it looks like I'll get back on track with limited portions for sure after my fill. I'll get 4cc in 10cc band to start.

I need some convincing that I haven't already gotten through the honeymoon period; I can't be failing already can I?

Will a fill cure me? Will I be forced back to discipline (I hope)?

I haven't been hungry between; it's the mealtimes that are testing my will.:help:

Mel, my doc said one thing I needed to improve was my Water intake; and to definitely wait an hour after eating so that I felt full longer. It's tough to both wait an hour after AND drink more. I'm really forcing myself away from the table (feels like the old pre-band days) but I'm still making MUCH better choices in food than before. Vacation can be hard, anytime. I guess just try to eat s-l-o-w and order sensibly. And if you're drinking, remember to choose something NOT fizzy and not too strong (no beer). I've had a glass of white wine or two without trouble. But it's important to note that you can't hang with the big dogs anymore; a couple glasses and your toast since so little food. Good luck; you'll be fine, remember this is a tool meant for the long haul; a little backslide can be fixed.

I had my first fill yesterday and can only tolerate sips of Water or a Protein Shake since then. Absolutely no hunger. I don't mind not being hungry, but the burping and loud hiccupps are annoying--hope that improves before I go to work on Monday!

I've been able to eat fine (unfortunately) since fill. The only wierd thing that seems to be happening is my digestion is REALLY loud. My gurgling stomach woke me up the other night; thought there was a creature in the room with me. Maybe because I have had a little bit of green salad the last couple days at lunch (literally 4 leaves or so) too much roughage? I used to eat salads every day before band. Not feeling real restricted yet either; I guess the sweet spot is a couple fills away still.:guess

I too have been struggling - I can eat everything and my weight fluctuates daily - I know I need to stay off the scale. I am 2 weeks from a fill as I had to cancel the one this week but I am not loosing anymore at all. I have not made it below the mark that I had 3 weeks ago. ;)

I guess I need to make sure I get all 64 oz of Water in - mostly am getting in about 50 per day. I find it difficult to get that last 14 oz in.

I have had my first fill. I do not feel much restriction, but i am not very hungry , so it has helped. Hope the next fill gives me some restriction. Donna

Reading everyone's postings is encouraging. I have first fill in a week. Have been able to eat almost anything. Looking forward to getting first fill. Haven't been losing any weight for several weeks. Any more words of advise/encouragement. Really looking forward to losing weight again.

so i know this is a tool and it's a journey, not a destination...but i am so discouraged!!! i am eating like nothing ever happened! (i was banded july 13, 07 and had my first fill aug. 1) i have very little to no restriction. i was banded in Mexico, i have found a doc in dallas to do my fills, but he has canceled my appointment 2 weeks in a row, so i am now waiting until next week for a fill and i am hoping, hoping, hoping it will be a good one. the truth is - i turned to this surgery because i had proven to myself i could not remain on a diet for more than a few months...i couldn't make the lifestyle change...i LOVE food. my whole family loves food...we go on vactions across the world only to come back and talk about the food!!

i feel like this is a lot harder and more finiky than was expected. i had gained about 40 lbs in the last year, putting me up to 240 in july 07. i have lost 15lbs honestly, that was lost during pre-op diet and have only maintained*thank god!* that scale hasn't budged since! it's been 9 weeks....I WANT SOME RESTRICTION! I WANT TO SHED SOME LBS!

grrrr!

Flood yourself and the weight will go! That's my motto. I had 2 weeks of the scale stuck. Finally started monitoring my Water and found I was way low.........as soon as I increased I started washing the pounds away again.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
