Very Frustrated!

I had RNY on 11/9 and today was my first post op visit. I've only lost 1.9 pounds! I have done everything I can (exercise, protein intake, water) and this is what I get? The Doctor isn't concerned but it's disheartening to see such a small number considering all that I've given up. Very discouraged right now.

I wonder if I need a few more calories as I only take in about 450 day. I see the nutritionist next week and hopefully she can help me figure this out. My Doctor said sometimes the weight loss can be slow up to 3 months out. He said that I will plateau for a week or two then drop 5 pounds in a day and that it is not necessarily a steady decline.

Stay calm. It is common to take a few weeks before you begin to lose weight. Your body is in a major heal mode and allowing it to heal is the prime goal at 10 days post-op. For one thing most patients gain weight while they are in the hospital because they are pumping fluids into you. So you have to first lose this added weight before you begin to see a weight loss.

So stay calm, follow the directions (meal volume, Protein, fluids and vitamins), relax and let the magic happen.
