What other choice do you have but to follow your pre-op diet? My surgeon made it very clear that if my liver was too big, he would close up the incisions and not do the surgery. Do you really want to

You are not alone. My surgery is October 15 and have Been on a liquid diet for one week. I haven't lost but 2 pounds but I feel as if I am hungry all the time. Gets worst just before bed. I'm gonna just stick to it and hope everything works out. This pre-op is the WORST, but as I understand it is well worth it in the end. My surgeon did remind me that the purpose of the liquid protein diet is to shrink the liver, thus making surgery easier. So maybe the weight loss is only secondary. Right now I don't know what to think. I'm just ready for the next week to go by! Btw, I have read many stories about those who "slipped up" on the pre-op liquid diet. I told my surgeon's mental health professional that I too cheated on the diet. Her advice was to stick with it as best I can. Don't let anyone fool you, it's TOTALLY about willpower. Stop cheating. You will do fine my friend.
