I too had my surgery 4/8/15, and have lost a total of 69 lbs, but it seems like there are a lot of stalls along the way. So we're about the same. I know what usually works for me is if I reset and do a liquid diet for a couple of days without grazing or snacking and it usually get the scale back to moving. Hope this helps.

No I've lost 70 in 3 months after surgery. But I had a serious complication after surgery and couldn't really eat anything for almost a month.

It does help! Thank you, I'm going to try that.

I swear I am the plateau queen. I lose 10lbs and then I am stuck, then I start losing again and I am stuck. It is very frustrating.

As you can tell, I am stuck again. I know exactly what my issue is but I don't know what I can do about it right now. I am restricted from exercise due to a surgery I had on my spine in June. The worst part is I have significant pain in my back and don't see this restriction changing anytime soon.

I guess the good news is, I have not gained any weight and continue to lose very very slowly with a plateau every 10lbs. I am 25 lbs from my goal.

I am telling you exercise and lower carbs is the answer! If you can get yourself moving it can really help.

At the stage you are currently in for meal volume, you have the option to consume a larger portion of Protein through your meals (that is if you are consuming high Protein meals). This allows you to reduce your reliance on protein supplements (Protein shakes, protein bars) and the calories that these protein supplements contain.

I experienced a plateau at around 3 months post-op. I looked at my calorie consumption and decided my plateau was due to increased calorie consumption, so I dropped from 3 Protein Shakes a day down to 2 and my weight loss picked up again. As time went on and my meal volume increased, I was able to further reduce my protein shakes down to 1 per day and then none. Because at that point I was consuming all the protein that I needed from my meals.

I do eat a lot of saltine crackers and juice. They're out now!

Great info! I didn't think of that!

I am a big believer in the re-set. The way I learned it was to have 4 or 5 Protein Shakes and nothing else on day one. Then, on day 2, have four Protein shakes. And then make your dinner a weighed amount of chicken. Eat what you can - until you are full - and then weigh the rest so you can know just how much you are. I've done this twice. It really helps.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
