  • Humana is very good at approving as long as you've met all of their requirements. They don't play games like some insurance companies (Aetna!!!).

I have the Humana Silver PPO Plan/MS. I was told that my Insurance wouldn't cover my VSG. I spoke with my PCP about this and he let them know that's it's a medical necessity, for me to have WLS. I'm 44 years old, my height is 4'11, my weight is 279 and my BMI is 56.4. They told me that in September 15, 2015 a doctor called in saying that I needed surgery that I have never heard of. I'm in a ball of confusion. The Bariatric Coordinator, with actual surgeon who I'd like to do my surgery called them on yesterday. Humana had them to verify codes, the hospital, etc and said they'd let them know of a decision early on next week. Jesus, took the wheel a long time ago, but I'm not giving up!
