Anyone get gout after surgery?

I got gout after surgery and have had to slow down on protein. Any advise on what to do? I was given medicine to help with the gout but now I'm afraid to try protein shakes for fear of another flare up.

My surgeon told me that practically every one gets gout because they don't drink enough water.

I had gout going into the surgery. I am using "Tart Cherry" because I am allergic to traditional medicine. I will let yu know

I don't have gout but I do have bad arthritis and have used the unsweetened tart cherry juice. It worked great for me. I recommended to my brother in law who has severe gout and now he swears by it. I buy it at a local health food store.
