Pre op Diet-NO PROTEIN!

I am having my surgery in October in Mexico & just received the instructions from my dr for the pre op diet. I am instructed to eat normally & then 15 days before surgery do a full liquid diet. The diet listed no Protein shakes, protein Water, etc. I asked the dr & he specifically said NO PROTEIN during the 15 day liquid diet. But all the other research i have done states that the liquid diet for pre op has Protein Shakes. I am wondering if this is because he is not requiring me to do any other type of dieting before the preop diet starts.

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this as i am very nervous about not having any protein source for 15 straight days before surgery.
