@@Fab@Forty When do you move to mushies? I am on liquids until I see my dr. on the 30th. I gained 10 lbs on IV fluids! They are all gone plus a couple of more, so I am on the downhill finally. I feel just like you do about how hard it is to get in the liquids and proteins. I think I need to schedule myself to eat because if I don't I really don't think about it. I am doing a lot of water sipping though. It is a very, very weird feeling to be burdened by the need to eat and not having any hunger or desire to eat. It is different than when I had the band because with the band I was just physically stopped from eating and wanted to eat more. Now I have no desire. I went grocery shopping today (that was a bit much for me physically) and got my daughter ice cream. I told her to eat it away from me, but I am not sure I would even mind if she didn't. No thank you, I'm stuffed :)

Hey @@Notinks! I will be on mushy food as of day 22! That will officially be October 8th. I have finally gotten all of that IV fluids off of my as of today! Now... it gets REAL! I am so excited that we are on the losing side now! I did about 6 ounces of Protein today and about the same amount of H2O. As of now, nothing is coming up or making me sick... I am just full all the time.

Good luck Fab I have been on clear liquids for some time now. My surgery was the 16th and I am scheduled to move to smooth foods when I meet with my doctor on Wednesday. Can't wait. I am still caring 8 lbs of the

What does your MD define as smooth food?

Anything that can be mashed or already mashed to a smooth consistency. The dietician sent me the list. I can have salmon chicken ,tuna, vegetables cokked not raw, etc. My meat must be very tender. No steak or raw vegetables. Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc

I had surgery on the 16th. Some days I've been able to get in my fluids, some days about half. At random times through out the day I get really clammy, dizzy, and light headed. I'm not sure of its because I am dehydrated or due to lack of calories or maybe it's hypoglycemia. I almost called my Dr yesterday but I follow up with him tomorrow morning so I will discuss it with him. I was also suffering from some awful reflux, which I thought we weren't supposed to have with the bypass. Strange! I can already see a bit of a difference in my body, face in not puffy and my wedding rings aren't so tight.

Tomorrow I start full liquids for two weeks. I can have thinned yogurt, strained cream soups, and even skim milk. Though I am a bit nervous about adding all these foods.

Hang in there everyone.

My dr put me on an acid reducer from the day I left the hospital & am taking it for 2 months, when I asked why he said it was because reflux was common after bypass! Maybe ask your Dr about that too!

I'm so nervous every time I eat, I'm on mushy food now and it's like heaven, I was so sick of liquids!!!

@@Bingcherry I was sent home on an acid reducer too. It's a dissolvable Previcid. I remember him mentioning it at my last pre-surgical visit, but I don't remember him saying it would be for a limited time. I think it is more of a precaution against ulcers later.

I don't know why my posts show up twice sometimes, I'm sorry!!! ????

It is great to see how everyone is doing! I am behind you all. My surgery is tomorrow morning. Clear fluids for me.

Today, I am feeling both excited and scared...not so much of the surgery, because I have a lot of confidence in my doctor, but I am concerned about how bad I might feel afterward and how that might effect my household.

I am feeling a bit selfish taking this time for myself to recover. But I have to keep reminding myself that that is some of the reason why I am in this position in the first place, because for far too long, I put everyone else's needs before my own.

Anyway, keep updating as you all can! I am learning so much from you already.

Hang in there @alibye. Your family will understand and you deserve to make yourself healthier for them! Good luck! I'm next Tuesday!

I was sent home on Omeprazole which is for gerd/reflux. I guess it takes a while to kick in.

Anyone having surgery in September? Just got my date and overwhelmed with emotions!

I am having surgery on the 39th, this is day four. No having any problems. Can't wait to get this process over, and get life back too somewhat normal.
