It depends on which Medi-Cal you have. the straight medi-cal or one of their HMOs. Best way to find out is to call the surgeon you want to use and the office insurance person can help you figure it out.

I had the gastric sleeve done in August with Medi-cal as my secondary insurance... and yes, they paid. They would have paid for it as a primary insurance too had I not had another primary. The best way to find out your requirements is to call a surgeon and ask their insurance person. You could also call the insurance directly and they can send you the requirements. They do it all the time and should be happy to help you.
