Hi all. My aunt is 55 and inquired about the surgery to her general doctor since I am having it. I'm 28 and he basically said to her he wouldn't recommend it since she's 55. I know people that are older that have had it. Is this normal??? I think she should totally have it. She definitely qualifies. And can anyone recommend a good surgeon in the ft lauderdale area? Thank you!

I just turned 56 and I am having a gastric sleeve in November. There is even a group of over 60 in this forum! She needs to get a referral to a bariatric center and they will do a thorough work up and often a 6 month program to help her be successful. Good luck!
