Dehydration

How do you know if you are on the verge of dehydration? I am 1 week out from surgery and yesterday I had a couple sips of an eas protein shake and it immediately made me feel bad. Not sure why. But it had me in the restroom with discomfort and then I felt very constipated because of course I am just now experiencing my first bm since surgery. So I took milk of mag because I felt like I had to in order to fix things. Now today I am still going but everytime I drink or eat yogurt or something it goes straight thru. Am I getting dehydrated? What should I do? I can start stage 3 puréed tomorrow with my program. Any suggestions? Would it make a difference if I start it one day early to get more substance in to change the bowels situation?

Please call your surgeon's office to describe what's happening to you and ask them your questions, since nobody on this forum could legitimately answer you. Good luck to you and hope you're feeling better soon.

Call your surgeons office about things running through you and see what they say.

You can call your nutritionist and ask if you can start a day early or when you call the surgeon ask then if you want.

You'll get better answers.
