Wait times?

I live in Alberta and just recently booked an appointment with my doctor to discuss getting a referral to the clinic in Edmonton. I looked up wait times for the surgery online and it said 3-7 years! Please tell me that's not the case! What was the wait time you were given, wherever you live, and how long until your surgery was booked? TIA!

We don't have nationalized healthcare in the US, so there are no "wait times" per se. We just have to have insurance or be a self-pay. For insurance, the approval process can be as short as 1 month or s long as years (if they require a psych eval, nutrition class, etc., etc.). If you're self-pay, they can put it on the surgery schedule whenever the surgeon & hospital can match up.

I think only Canadian patients can be of help with this.
