Scars from lap band & a Tummy Tuck

Hello There,

So I have been at my goal weight for a while :) and am starting to think about a tummy tuck, just wanted to ask if anyone knows if there is anything that can be done about the scars left after lap band and sleeve revison surgery at the same time as the TT?

I TT would be a massive improvement for me but I think that I would probably still be left with at least 2 of the scars I have now and they might look even bigger if they are sterched down.

Has anyone experienced this?

I have a couple of consultations this week, so will of course ask the surgeons too.

My scars from the sleeve surgery are so tiny that they are barely noticeable. After my TT, they did not stretch out. They don't stretch the skin, just tighten it.

I'm sure the plastic surgeon could make them less noticeable. But they definitely won't look worse after TT, as I said, they don't stretch the skin

Same for me...they moved down but are nearly invisible not stretched.

I used mederma and I think it made a huge difference they are very light. My tummy tuck scar is below my bikini line yep I wear a bikini! I just was revised from band to bypass so have some new scars but will be using mederma again.. Tummy tuck was awesome and I love my new belly button :)

Did they suture your ab muscles back together as well? I'm worried that will make it even more painful! I'm very concerned with the amount of pain I will have after the operation and how long I will be unable to do for myself! I am scheduled for June 24th to have a TT along with seeing my ab muscles back together, a breast lift/breast augmentation under the muscle and arm lift... I'm excited to be getting a new body but scared to death of the recovery!!!

The muscles were tightened. Pain is minimal. I have not experienced any upper body work, but I hear arms are painful. I do know that I'm using my arms a lot to get up and down. I would think you would just need somebody around to help you get up and down (bed, toilet, etc)

I haven't been told when I can shower, but I think bathing is going to be interesting , if allowed, in the next few days.

Hi Missy! I'm a "Missy" too :)

I had the Mommy Makeover surgery in March 2013. (Breast lift & tummy tuck). It was one of the

best decisions I made!

I used Mederma for scars pretty religiously and I think it helped some. But I've only had the lap band surgery. And I also used it on the tummy tuck scar too

And realself.com is a great website too!

Hi Missy!

Thanks for the tip on Mederma from you all I can't get it here but will try and have it shipped from the UK.

I used Bio-Oli after my band and sleeve which helped a bit but not a lot.

Luckily I don't have to have abs stitched back together (they haven't split) so apparently the recovery should be good. I hope so anyway, because we run our own business and I need to get back to work so soon as I can!

Really can't wait to get my TT and later the breast lift, so excited to get rid of the loose skin :)

That happened with my tummy tuck too! Who knew that losing 100lbs, having 2 kids would result in not having the muscles separated. My surgeon said I really lucked out.

I was so pleased when the surgeon told me :)
