shoulder/neck pain

Greetings! My lap band surgery was done in Mexico on Tuesday, and I was wondering how long my shoulder and neck will hurt. My understanding was that it would go away after a day or two. Has anyone else had sustained pain for longer than a couple of days post op? Thanks.

It is very individual...it just depends on how much residual gasses remained in your body cavity. I have read that flying sometimes increases the pain of the gas---the pressurized cabin, and altitude I would guess. Do lots of walking, and use some Gas X strips. Sip water slowly but steadily. Walk, Walk, Walk----that will help more than anything else!

Welcome to bandland, and to LBT----hope you feel better very soon!

The shoulder and neck pain was the worst-and I was uninformed about it-However-it was gone in about 10 days and I suggest you do not overtreat it. For myself, getting the prescribed meds out of by body and only taking over the counter liquid tylenol helped my return to normal life.
