pain in left upper abdomen

Hi : I am new to this forum. Just had my band to bypass done on September 9th. Am feeling good, following all the rules etc. My question has to do with pain. The 3rd day was the most painful and the 4th day better. Pain has gotten much better except for my upper left abdomen right below my ribs. It's just a constant pain that is worse with movement, and when I sleep it will wake me up. I am just wondering if others have had the same problem. I know that is where the band was and where the new pouch is. Just wanting to hear that is normal. Of course, I am picturing everything bad! Everything else feels fine and no other issues at all. No nausea or vomiting or trouble getting my water down. Thanks for your input. Sue

It just may be gas, try walking often that helps. If it persists and/or gets worse please call your surgeon ASAP.

Thanks, I actually called this morning and am waiting for a call back. It's probably swelling but will feel better if he tells me that, and it's nothing to worry about. Thanks though!

My left side hurts the most right now, but my drain was and so is your stomach. It is going to be tender I bet for quite awhile.

I talked to the nurse and the pain is somewhat better. She thought it was probably localized swelling and I could come in and have her look at it but decided to wait. I think I just feel better having talked to someone! Thanks for the input though! Am new to all this and have enjoyed reading the threads on here :-)
