How long to book date

So I found out I was approved!! Next question is they said it would take another two weeks to call to set up date. Does that seem right? And how long of a wait is it to the scheduled surgery date?

My first surgery, which was the band, once I got the insurance approval (had a six month weight management with PCP) I was scheduled for surgery two weeks later. Basically on a pre-op diet for 10 days. This time for the bypass, going to have to wait for the stomach to heal from having the band removed (and the insurance requires three months weight management which I have already put that in place) so hopefully once the insurance comes down with that approval I'll be scheduled within a couple of weeks. There again it depends on your surgeon's schedule though.

I was approved, given a pre op apt and given a date then. Approval to date was about 2 weeks.

Every office is different. No comparisons.

Looks like you have a busy surgeon..dont give up. The hard part is over, well unless you have to do a pre-op diet ????

I think it's really just going to depend on your surgeon. I get my date after necessary insurance requirements are done. They send the date to my insurance company for approval. If its approved and if I finish all my pre op tests before surgery, it can be bumped up. So basically, pending approval and pre op tests I'm given a tentative date after my last 6 month appointment.

  • 2 weeks later...

I received approval in 7 days and they set the date on the same phone call. it took all of 10 minutes.
