problems pre op

Hello, I an new here and I was wondering if anyone has heard of someone being not be able to have surgery laparoscopic. I had my gall bladder out a couple of years ago and when I woke up he told me he could not do laparoscopic surgery do to scar tissue. He had to open me up. I had a bad car accident back in 90 where I had internal bleeding and my bowls were torn. I'm all healed up but have a large incision scare that starts 2 inches above navel and goes all the way down to bikini line. Has anyone here had to be opened up for surgery?

I had mine laproscopic but when I signed my consent I had to sign for both ways just in case it had to be done as an open surgery.
