I was sleeved on april, 3rd. My doc didn't put me on preop diet. Post op, I had a leak complication and had to stay in hospital for 5 weeks. No loss during that period. I started dropping after May 15th approx. So it's been like 4 month I'm on track: I lost 72 pounds so far. I was a low bmi (35). No need to say how happy I am.

Honestly I don't know what exactly causes leaks. Mine was due to a loose staple. I followed the rules by the book and I was a few days out when it was diagnosed. It is a rare complication, though such a mean and discouraging one. I learned one thing: it will finally heal but you have to keep the faith. Today it is just a bad memory. One more thing: ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. A leak is a life threatening problem if not treated on time.

Thank you. If you check my old posts you can find details. The most alarming symptoms are the tachycardia, high fever and extreme left side pain foing from my ribs to my kidneys and upper left shoulder. Believe me the pain cannot be unnoticed. Just keep monitoring your temperature and stay in touch with your doc. Best of luck.
