Uhc Choice Plus

Ok I have a couple questions for anyone who can answer! 1st- how long did it take your dr office to submit to the insurance, once all requirements were met? 2nd- I have UHC Choice plus, and my only requirements are a BMI over 40, dietician and phsyc consult. Has anyone been approved quickly with these turned in?

I think it would depend on how organized your DR office is. I also do not believe that UHC allows this without a 3 or 6 month medically supervised diet. I could be wrong, as there are a lot of variables from one policy to the next. However, once UHC gets the file and everything is complete, approval can be very fast - 7-10 days.

I spoke to someone last week they said they have 14 days to respond to your request for surgery. She said the turn around should be quicker now that their busiest time of the year is passing (summer).

I have UHC Choice Plus as well. My Doctor's office "patient advocates" said it would take up to 14 days to get an answer back on my package they put together. On day 13 I called UHC & they said they declined it because they were playing phone tag with the surgeon's "patient advocate". They needed a surgery date. Once I began "advocating" for myself I was approved within 24 hours.

Mine was exactly 7 days from when they turned everything in to UHC.

Just thought I would come back and fill in this info for fellow sleevers! I have UHC Choiceplus, I went to my consult on 7/22, my case was submitted on 8/8, I was approved on 8/15, surgery will be 9/3! So it has all moved very fast! The longest part was getting the psych paperwork back to the dr office! Start my liquid diet tomorrow! Wish me luck;)
