Super Nervous....

Anyone else extremely nervous???

:help:

Hi:

I am scheduled to be banded one week from tomorrow (the 16th). The hospital called today and asked a lot of questions so I guess reality has finally sunk in!! Everyone seems like this was no big deal and I am super nervous. Not so much about the surgery itself but about not beaing able to EVER eat soem of my favorite foods again (pizza, a glass of red wine, even a french frie or two now and again) - I don't want to be able to ea these types of food to abandon but never to even be able to taste them again? Obviously food has been an important 9and bad) friend of mine for years (r I wouldn't need to be banded :nervous ) so I am looking forward to the help that the band will hopefully provide in the form as another tool toward my goal of being healthy and happy but I have to admit the whole food abstinence thing is throwing me for a loop.

I am sure once the results start happening I will be estatic but..did anyone else feel this way?

Thanks,

Rachel

Rachel-

Congrats on your up coming surgery. As for nerves, I didn;t get any until they were wheeling me into the operating room. I was so ready for the band that my mind was at ease.

As for the food thing - I still can eat pizza(thin crust), drink wine and have even had a fry or two. I think that you will absolutely go nuts if you have to stop eating those foods - Those foods will still be around - in much smaller amounts. There will need to be a better balance of the foods you do eat though. I will admit though that I haven't had a cheeseburger since the beginning of June and I DO NOT MISS IT. (I wish I could say the same for chocolate- a habit I am fighting daily).

Good luck to you next week -

Tracy

I was really nervous for a week prior to surgery. It began after meeting with the surgeon and he went over all the risks- including death. Finally I had to rationalize that if I keep gaining I'll die prematurely anyway.

I'm about 2 weeks out now and steadily feeling better. We all have our food addicitions here and we all have a love affair with food. Food is a companion for me and I understand you not wanting to give up certain items. The good news is that you don't have to give them up forever. You'll learn moderation and be able to eat real food again down the line. In the meantime, being on liquids for so long now has helped me break a few habits and curb my sweet tooth. So fear is normal, but you're gaining a life in the long run. Congratualtions on deciding to do this and feel free to ask me or others here questions as they arise. Take care!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
