January 6, 200719 yr Anyone had any problems with their surgery being covered by Aetna? Any restrictions etc?
May 17, 200719 yr jeejee that is awsome! I had no doubt what so ever. My great thoughts for a successful surgery go with you on the 29th. YAHOO!
May 18, 200719 yr I was approved!!! My surgery date is May 29!! WOO HOO!!!! Hi, did u have a problem with approval. i have diebetes and high blood pressure. my bmi is below 40. but, I have 2 problems now. relatively in good health otherwise. I went to the surgeon on the 13th. I am waiting to hear. i live in new hampshire. thx Minnie
May 18, 200719 yr I have Aenta PPO and they processed my paper in a week and I am having it done on my birthday. I just called and was polite and talked to someone who handles the claims and I am getting banded on May 30 that my birthday. I just felt that I would get on them and talk to them and it would go faster and it sure did. So from my doctor sending the papers in and me calling them it will be less than 3 weeks for my surgery. So call and talk to them. It won't hurt anything and they will be on the look out for it.
May 19, 200719 yr Do not give up, keep calling until you get better answers. They gave me different answers everytime I called to. If anything go for a consultation through a surgeon and tell them it is not excluded and if you qualify tell them to submit for an approval to your insurance company and see what happens. If they deny for other reasons (aetna) then appeal or be sure you have the qualifications for the surgery.
May 25, 200719 yr
Now I am nervous. I have Aetna also and they are requiring the three months supervision with a nutritionist, a behavior modification specialist (shrink) and a personal trainer. The nutritionist and the shrink is covered by Aetna but I have to pay the trainer outta pocket (personal trainers are not cheap. I hope they will approve me after I fulfill all their requirements. My BMI is 40+ I am a diabetic and I am currently on meds for high blood pressure.

May 25, 200719 yr Has anyone here had to get a personal trainer as a requirement for the insurance company ? ? ?
May 25, 200719 yr I never had to get a personal trainer to get approval. I need to see a nutritionist, psych, and also my PCP every month. That was it.
May 25, 200719 yr I have been going to more than one doctor. I have thyroid problems and just keep getting bigger and other issues. But I didn't have to go to any personal trainer I have tried everything weight watchers, curves, exercise programs and lose not one pound. Hang in there. I am the second person to get approved from AETNA to have this done at my doctors office. So Aetna must have some hard guidelines to follow to get approved. Just call the insurance and talk to them that's what I did and plus it is covered under my husbands insurance they don't pay for all of it but what they do pay helps. Just hang in there. Do what you have to do.
May 26, 200719 yr jeejee, your big day is coming up. Just a couple more days and a new life will start for you. I'm really excited for you and will say a prayer on the day of your surgery. Good Luck!
May 29, 200719 yr I wish everyone good luck. I also have Aetna but i have POS II My paper work goes to them on the 7th. I'm going to NYU. My doctor so far has sent me for a stress test that came back fine and the phyc. I have a BMI over 50 and I have 3 slipped disk in my neck and 2 in my back. I blew my knee out and had to have my ACL replaced 3 years ago. I hope i get approved but after reading this i'm starting to worry.
