Finally got a date, and I can't wait!

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I finally was given a date this morning and while it is weeks later than I was hoping, at least I know it is scheduled! Full disclosure - I was born without the patience gene, it's quite a disability ;) . I had my initial consult on 5/31 and completed the last of my requirements yesterday morning. The only thing that's outstanding is my lab results. I almost got a June 26 date, but there wasn't an open endoscopy appointment that was a full week before, so I couldn't take it and got stuck with July 24 instead. (I am seriously crossing my fingers and toes for a cancellation!) Did I mention waiting was not my strong suit?? I know it sounds fast to make such a life changing decision, but I considered bypass several years ago, and the difference between how I felt about it then and how I feel about the sleeve now is really reassuring and I know that I've made the right decision for me. Once I've made a decision, I want things done, like, yesterday!

Anyway, glad to join the ranks of all of you July Sleevers! Hope everyone's wait, procedure, recovery, and weight loss goes wonderfully!

Congrats! I'm currently scheduled for the 24th as well, so we can have a virtual "birthday" together!

Very cool! Maybe we'll get a chance to say hello! And commiserate about the preop diet... It doesn't look too bad. I've done 500 cal before, so 870 shouldn't be a problem. My only concern is that it's liquids except 1 meal. That should be the hardest part.

Very very cool! I'm excited for both of us!

I've actually done several days where I did the Protein shake thing all day and then ate dinner, trading the waters. The only thing is I ate a regular dinner, so my calcount for the day was more like 1200.

It would be nice if we can say hi! Maybe we can keep each other company walking around the halls :D

Well, I gotta say, as far as satiety goes 900 vs 1200 cal when you weigh near 300 lbs... not a significant difference. It's just 7 days, right? (That's what I'll be reminding myself on day 1 and 2 and 3, you get the picture) ;)

Heck yeah! We'll do laps around all those other patients!

I'm with ya! We'll be rocking our sleeves and those halls!

As far as the diet goes, I was a little hungry the first two days, but then it seemed to settle in a bit. I just drank some iced tea or some Water with lime in the middle of the afternoon, between my second and third shakes, and it wasn't too bad. I only did 4 days, though. I was just thinking I might do another round starting on Monday, and I might even do the whole thing this time. Even if I only do 3 days, I'm getting used to it, and hopefully it will be less stressful during the "for real" week!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
