The 5:2 diet

I thought I might try to move the hot topic of the new 5:2 diet a few of us long timers are trying here, rather than in the "Gonna Get to Goal, Wanna Join Me?" Thread, so that that thread could go back to its original topic.

I do not have access to the book or video or anything that some of the other 5:2ers have, but I've been to the website and read up and today is my fourth day; so far I've done Fast Normal Fast and now today is a Normal. I aim for 500 on the fasting days but don't seem to make it under 600, and I aim for 1600 on Normals, but don't seem to make it past 1200, so I guess I'm not the poster child for this. Also, the morning after my first fast day, I was down 4 lbs, but the morning after my first Normal day I was up 3 lbs and this morning I was down 3 lbs so - no progress.

Since today is a Normal day I will do my cardio. I will report back what the scale says tomorrow morning!

Susan said she was going to try to move this entire thread over there to the groups.

Yeah' date=' I like to have a light night snack of 100 calorie pack of cocoa dusted almonds. not on fast days. So I've been trying to eat breakfast at 11

Does a baby bell light have less calories than a string cheese?[/quote']

Babybel light has 50 calories so I'd say yes depending in your string cheese.

The laughing cow light wedges are around 35 calories.

I approved you' date=' so you can go in there now, and I started a thread, in case Susan can't move this over there.

Same. Laughing cow wedge has less 35 vs 50

Oregon, I "joined" also. Not sure what happens now

Done!! 470 I think. Now, we will see how I hold up under pressure. Wknd trip! Lol

Also done for the day, 510 calories today. It was a rough one today, but I made it!

I also joined, but I think we have to wait for Oregon to approve us all.

I have a hard time with medication and Vitamins as well. I have to drink milk when taking my vitamins and take them before I eat anything or else I just about throw them back up. So I end up having to take in a few extra calories just to take them! Do you have to take the medication in the morning, or can it be taken with your lunch?? Maybe if you can switch around the time you take it, it would be easier.

I am not sure how you find the group to post in it. I had to go to my profile and it said groups on it.

I accidentally created 2 of them. I messaged Susan to fix it.

I started a thread "how was your 5:2 day? Susan said she might be able to move our 5:2 thead here over there.

I slipped up a little >,<.... 700 cals today, but really, not THAT bad. Tomorrow is another day!

Anyone know the password? I guess I was not invited.

I went to my groups under profiles and it said I am not part of any groups. Nor did I find any way to add groups. I had to do this on the web app because the iPad app is fairly limited in profile options. A little help?

I think I just accidentally requested to join (and 'followed') both of the groups you created, OD. So when you delete one, hopefully I end up in the right one. LOL. FWIW, I can't see a thread in either of the groups (though I know I'm not a full member yet), so even if people 'follow' the group, I guess they won't see posts unless they are actually members. ?

OMG, yesterday had to be like 5000 calories in the end, no joke. I got the recipe for the flourless chocolate cake -- it was made of cream, butter, chocolate, sugar and eggs LOL. I had two pretty large pieces, one was 'breakfast' along with a pear and a bunch of coffee with cream. Then my 'book group' (read: wine-drinking, work-complaining, girls-night-out group) was last night and I had beef, tartar sauce, fries, wine aplenty... I have to be better on my non-fasting days if I expect this to work LOL. :D I'm v. bad, do NOT be like me!!!

Re: eating/taking meds, I consider the milk in my morning coffee as 'food' for medication-taking purposes. Possibly I'm fooling myself, but I hate breakfast and almost never eat until at least 11 if not lunch...

ETA: Having people over to ours for dinner tonight, serving roast chicken, green salad and potato salad cos it's finally hot-ish here. Tiny Magnums for dessert. Copious wine with all, I'm sure. Sigh. Tomorrow night open-air jazz festival, ditto on the food/drink. Good god, I am going to need to do a 2:5 to catch up...!

Your life is an event!!! Lol. 2:5. Ha!

Well it's early and I'm up!! Don't even have to be up. Why am I up?? Because I'm OBSESSED with food. I did well on my fast yesterday but went to bed dreaming of Peanut Butter.

I woke up at 5 am and at 5:45 couldn't take it anymore, yes at 5:50 you could find me in the kitchen spoon in hand and clutching a peanut butter container. >.<

Good morning VST.

Hehehe... I like the 2:5 :D I might have to do that too!

So I signed up yesterday, went there today and was not signed up.. I signed up again, and am waiting for approval. Miss Georgia, sign up for the other one with three members, I think your on the smaller 5:2....

OK, I think I have the group thing figured out. Oregon, Laura and I are all on the right one...I think. Once Oregon approves you to join, you can post. You have to click on the side where it is says "Group Navigation" on the right. There is a heading called group discussion. If you click on it, it brings up the threads. Oregon started one, I posted a reply to it. You can see the threads but cannot post until you are approved to join.

You should be able to find the group by looking under the community tab at the top, and click on social groups. It is called eating the 5:2 way and has 3 members.

I posted in the new group, but I thought I would post here since we are just getting that figured out.

Yesterday was my fast day and I survived it, although all I wanted to do was eat. I will admit, there are days that I don't love the fasting, but what gets me through is knowing I can eat the next day! I don't get too hungry, but it is that whole head hunger thing, and let's face it, I like food!

Woke up this morning not down anymore, but still down. I am trying not to get my hopes up, but it is hard not to think that this might be working for me. If I stay around this weight, it puts me 6.2 pounds down from the highest I hit when I started 5:2 and only 2 lbs from where I was. If it works, I might even try to get down a few more pounds, but I will have to see if it is realistic. I don't want to have to struggle to stay 3 or 4 pounds under what I was if my body stays happy a little higher.

For the next 3 days, normal days for me, and trust me, I enjoyed every bite of my Breakfast this morning...but I didn't wake up early to eat it, Laura! But it tasted oh so good....curse you food, why must you be so yummy in my tummy!
