December 25, 200619 yr HI I am a little confused My doc said I could move on to mushies on tuesday I was banded on december the 18th which would make me on mushies at 8 days is this normal please respond
December 25, 200619 yr Every doctor seems to have their own little schedule.....think it's because LB is realtively new and we are still a big experiment and there is no way to know yet just what is ideal. So they just make up their own set of rules. That said....from what I have read and observed on boards, that is about average, maybe leaning to the early end of average. You'll just need to ease into it carefully and see what you can tolerate. If it seems a little painful, back off for a day or so, then try again. You'll do fine!!
December 25, 200619 yr I was on clear liquids for one week, full liquids for one week then was able to move to mushies. I wasn't on solids until 6 or 8 weeks out.
December 25, 200619 yr I was banded the same day and my Dr. had me start on mushies today. I haven't had any problems.
December 25, 200619 yr I was on mushies at 7 days so I think you'll be fine. I've never had any problems. Some docs are more strict than others but I didn't even have to have preop and everything has been perfect. Congrats on your surgery.
December 26, 200619 yr I was told at 8 days also that I could start on mushies, and even move on to real food if I wanted to try it. I am almost 4 weeks out right now and I am eating solid foods and not having any problems. Just experiment and see what happens--you will know if you have eaten something that you are not ready for. Good luck! 258h/248s/231c/140g banded Nov 30, 2006 Dr. James Smith-Pueblo, CO
December 27, 200619 yr I was on "whole liquids" for 5 days, then mushies, then solids. I didn't have a problem moving to more solid foods, I was hungry. ~Mandy
