Drinking with meals

Ok, so I know the whole "don't drink anything for at least 30 min. After eating" is applicable to lapband folks, but why is it a rule for sleevers? I mean, your not washing the food down any faster into the intestine are you?????

Not to keep you full, but to allow your body to absorb as many nutrients as possible. If you drink before and after eating you wash some of the nutrients away and since we're eating so little we can't

It is two-fold...our new stomachs just don't have room for both AND, the liquid does mix with the food and you digest it quicker.

  • Watch the video on you tube. Excellent demonstration as to why you don't drink with meal. I believe it is referenced in the above reply.

I believe the thinking is that not drinking for 30 minutes after eating keeps the food in your stomach for a longer period of time, thereby keeping you full a little longer. Food generally begins to travel I to the small intestines 30 minutes after eating.

I find I cannot drink fluids for at least 30 minutes after solid food or it will come right back up - very unpleasant.
