Hernia AFTER Vertical Sleeve Surgery

I was sleeved December 5th, 2012 (about 5 months ago) and was doing awesome. Ive lost a total of 68 pounds so far and started doing bikram hot yoga which I am completely addicted to. Unfortunately I developed a ventral hernia a couple of weeks ago. It started with this lump a couple inches above my belly button and a couple inches below my sternum. It got progressively larger so much that it looked like a had a softball pushing from the inside out. So I saw my surgeon and he immediately had me go get an upper gi where I got to see my small intestines pushing out. Or as I like to describe it, my intestines were trying to escape.

Within a week I was in surgery. Surgery was 2 days ago and they originally said it would be out patient surgery. They would repair the abdominal wall tear and reinforce it with mesh. But apparently it was so large that they had to keep me overnight for observation. Im more sore and in more pain than I was for my sleeve actually. They did finally release me last night around 10. They said I could go home if I farted lol. Well I drank about 4 cups of coffee, had some tomato Soup and sure enough, I farted. We call it my $150 fart because had I had to stay another night, I wouldve had to pay $150 co-pay lol.

So Im home now, in a lot of pain but my ab wall will be strengthened and I can go back to my bikram yoga in about 6 - 8 weeks. Im off work for about a week which isnt the worst thing in the world :) I can handle to pain mostly but the most annoying part is sleeping on my back. Oh and Im all bloated from all the fluids they pumped me up with. I better lose a few pounds from this lol.
