I didn't. I was considering submitting receipts to our Extended Health provider but I didn't I'm sure I would have been denied. I took a sick leave for the surgery, they don't know what type of surgery I had otherwise, they would not have covered that.

My insurance provider covered the cost of the band (up to $4000) as it was considered a medical device (akin to a wheelchair). But otherwise the entire cost was mine.

Good luck to you!!

Where were you living when you were banded, Dawn? And who is/was your insurance provider?

Hi Argon,

I was living in Quebec (the Arctic region- skidooing yesterday yee haw). SSQ is my insurance provider. I work for a school board and it is their 'professional' (i.e. the teachers don't get it- which I think sucks) insurance line so it is handled by the government. But, the really great secretary at the dr office said many will cover the band itself.

Just thought I would let you know!!!
