Say Cheese and Bologna!

I have discovered the Deli counter at Kroger. Have found that some things work and some don't and thought I would share what I have figured out with my band, and hope others will post their experiences as well.

Things that work:

Havarti

Havarti with Dill

Havarti with Jalepeno

ButterKase

Munster

Boars Head Liverworst, Bologna

Thin sliced turkey/ham/beef

Brie (But don't like it)

Blue cheese

Things that don't work:

Chedder

Provalone (Worst Pain Ever)

"Fancy" Bologna with Pistachios (Don't exactly know why this didn't work.)

Want to try more things, but scared to do so, so if you have anything that works well let me know! I like strong flavors so bring it on!

Most of the deli stuff works for me too. I sometimes throw up hard cheese, beef and chicken breast. When I make chicken I usually put salsa on it to make it moist.

I can eat anything that deli counter throws at me; but my favorites are salami, kalamata olives, sundried tomatoes and triple smoked leg ham.

I only seem to have trouble with cheese when its melted (ie, no way in the world would I try one of those fried mozerella cheese stick things lol), but can do stuff like mac n cheese in small portions, as long as it's creamy.

Okay, that last paragraph got totally off the deli topic lol - sorry.

I can do solid cheese, melt it and I am screwed. I will eat the toppings off of a cold slice of pizza, but if it's hot I'm in PB city. I can do just about any cheese, sharp chedder being my fave. I also love blue cheese. Naturally soft cheese (brie and cream cheese) are fine for me too. I don't eat pork so I'm limited with deli choices. I have a good dinner idea though. I take thin sliced turkey or beef and add it to a jar of turkey or beef gravy, heat through and serve with mashed potatos. That is a favorite with my family. You can also take thicker sliced turkey and roll some stuffing in it, cigar sized, top with gravy and bake for about 25 mins at 350. ~Mandy

Deli food is easy for me too. I was on a blue cheese binge last month. Hubby made me poached pears (sliced) with crumbled blue cheese on top.....makes a fabulous lunch.
