Constipation

Hi All,

I had the band removed and the sleeve done on 12/28/12. I haven't had any complications - in fact recovery was better than the band. I was sleeping on my left side in two days. I could get out of bed without holding on to anything. The bandages (tape) are falling off the incision every couple of days. So when I say I am constipated I'm perplexed.

I haven't had a bowel movement in three days (this is day three). I have had Fiber Choice (chewables), and CVS brand Fiber drink - and still nothing. To add to my 'lack of pleasure' when I eat - I am FULL in no time. A small 4oz cottage cheese isn't able to be finished.

Today might be my day, my stomach is gurgling and I have a little gas. Anyone else having 'discharge' issues? Any ideas?

Actually, I have been relieved. Hopefully it doesn't happen again. The scale actually moved in the right direction too. I was going to try prunes next but they are so sweet (I might buy some just to keep on hand, old remedies are sometimes best). :D

BTW, thanks for responding - I appreciate it. I plan to see my doctor again on February 15th, I will ask about constipation. However, if it happens again before then I'll call the Nurse after day one.

I had my sleeve on 12/26 and I have found that I need to take stool softeners. The first day or so, I also took a Dulcolax with the softeners but now if I take the softeners every day, I am staying regular. I also read that eating oatmeal will help and I am eating a small bowl of Wheat Chex softened with fat-free milk before I go to bed at night. Hope this helps!
