Wrong Procedure Approved- Resubmitting For Sleeve

Today I received my letter of approval from insurance, but the insurance company had approved me for Lap Band when I am suppose to getting approved for the sleeve. I called my surgeons office and they informed me that it was an error on their behalf. So now they have resubmitted my info to insurance to have me approved for the sleeve instead.

Has anyone had this happen to them? I was just curious if it would take them as long to approve this procedure? Also, since I was given a date for surgery by the insurance company, will my surgery date change now?

I would be grateful for ANY input.

I have Fed BCBS. I went in for my preop set to get the lap band. After discussing w dr I changed to the sleeve. Ins simply changed the approval code to the sleeve was told once I'm approved I was approved for any of the WLS. I still had my surgery the next week as planned. No biggie at all for me.

ok so this kinda happened to me but not fully. there was a delay in submitting me because of the confusion of what surgery i wanted. the surgery date is tentative so it can be changed in the system. they should have no issues with still doing your surgery on that day esp because your surgeon probably does all 3. it really is just a matter of your info being resubmitted under a different authorization code. as long as your insurance covers the sleeve you should have no problem. based on your case your surgical coordinator should even be able 2 call insurance directly and have your case expedited :) you should be fine. i would not worry,. so...with that being said CONGRATS! lol
