Sore Throat(PLEASE HELP)

Hi all,

I think I need some help. I didn't think much of it for the last few weeks post op. I just thought I may have had a sore throat. I know it's not a sore throat b/c it's not going away or even getting somewhat better. Anytime I swallow, the left side of my throat hurts. It's very annoyiny and I worried that it's my esophogus. I could be wrong. I don't have a fill and I'm 1 month post op. I've had this problem for about 2 1/2 weeks.

Please help.

Emily, I agree, it may be from the tubes. I was banded last Tuesday and my throat hurts alot. On the left side too. Mine is from the tubes I know. I awoke with the pain. It hurts worse than the incisions. I've had lots of surgeries and always had this pain in the throat. Must be the size of my throat or something. My doc. told me to gargle with salt water and use Cepacol Spray on it. It also helps me if I take one of the pain meds. that was given to me.

Did yours begin hurting right after surgery or did it develop later on..as in days...after surgery? If it developed later, I'd definitely get in touch with my doc.

Hope it gets better soon.:cry

It developed later on. However, it has been getting better as the days go on. I'm being more mindful on a daily basis to see if it's getting better. I think it is. Some days it does bother me. Other days, I'm fine. I'm seeing my surgeon on Thursday. I will ask him if he thinks it's the band.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Two common things that can cause a sore throat daily for an extended period of time are post nasal drip (do you suffer from allergies/allergic rhinitis?) and acid reflux. Your doctor should be able to advise you on this. Good luck.
