Question About Cobra

Ok...I strongly dislike my job. The only reason why I am still there is because of the insurance. Here is the thing...my company was bought out recently by another company and before the buy out...I wasn't covered but now since the new changes..bariatric surgery is covered. Now to the point...the new insurance doesn't take in affect until January. If I happen to resign..how long can I keep COBRA and will I be covered in January once they switch over?

I wonder how much my premium would be. I am ready to quit!
