Someone asked me this, and I have deleted the email or something - but here is the answer:
How do you measure yourself, you personally, do gain a real understanding of your adiposity?
The BMI, Body Mass Index, is widely used, but generally innacurate. If you want to know exactly where you are now, to the best science can reasonably (expensewise) offer an answer, you might want to consider the BAI - Body Adiposity Index. This requires more than the BMI, which is why it is not used so often.
There is also hydrostatic weighing, which I have had done but not recently. I plan on having this done before I began to set a final goal.
There are more and I know I missed some - but these two are tests that I know of to be offered by sports medicine docs, and better than BMI - the hydrostatic does not even require an xray.
I am by no means an expert, this is personal knowledge only.
