Blood donation

I give blood regularly at the local Blood Bank. In checking my Daytimer, I see I'm scheduled for this week. My lapband insertion is sheduled for 9/20. Should I cancel the blood donation?

Wow, just when you think you couldn't get a new question...I hadn't thought of this! Personally, I'd postpone the blood donation. No facts or medical background...just an opinion based on my gut. I'm interested in the other replies!

I think it only takes a month for your body to replinish your blood supply, but I would postpone as well. You want to be your strongest for your surgery and you'll be giving again post-op in no time.

I think you SHOULD cancel. I donate plasma and My Dr wanted me to stop for 2 month prior to surgery and 6 after.

Ask YOUR Dr. for advice~ You want all your blood levels to show true.
