Post-op Liquids vs. Protein

Recommended Posts

Today is my fifth day since surgery and I'm confused about the water/protein requirements.

Does the Water in my Protein shakes count towards my 64oz Water goal?

Do I have to wait 30 minutes after the Protein Shakes to drink water since they are both liquids?

Does anyone know of a truly unflavored Protein powder I can mix with broths and Soups so I can get as much as possible?

Do I have to wait 30 minutes before and after broth to drink water?

I'd call and ask my dr. but it's Sunday so they are not open.

Tks

Lyn

Yes the liquid in your Protein Shakes counts toward your liquid intake. Truly unflavored Protein? Maybe someone else can help you there. I haven't found one but then I have tried a lot of unflavored ones either.

Benefiber seems to be unflavored. They put it in my broths and crystal light while in the hospital. It didn't change the flavor at all.

Also, I drink my Protein Shake in the morning with my Water because lots of times I'm trying to get my morning pills down at the same time. You don't have to wait 30 minutes to drink water after a Protein shake, that's only after actual food.< /p>

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
